Who We Are
Every parent wants to see their player grow—not just in skill, but in confidence and preparation for what’s next. At Tier One Hockey Training, we provide athletes with the tools, knowledge, and training environment to reach their full potential on and off the ice.
Our coaching staff brings AAA, Junior, Collegiate, and Professional experience directly to your player. We know what it takes to compete at the highest levels, and more importantly, we know how to teach it in a way that connects with young athletes.
From skill development and hockey IQ to strength, conditioning, leadership, and mental preparation, we offer a complete development program. Parents can trust that every practice is structured, purposeful, and designed to move their player forward.
At Tier One, we don’t just run practices—we build better players and stronger kids.
Meet Our Coaches
Coach Lee McClure
Lee McClure, owner and head coach of Tier One Hockey Training, brings a wealth of experience from playing professional hockey in the CHL, ECHL, SPHL, and FHL. Before turning pro, Lee got his start in hockey in Dayton, OH, with the Dayton Blue Hawks and Beavercreek High School. He then progressed to play at the AAA and Junior levels. He retired from professional hockey after winning a championship in his hometown, a fitting capstone to his playing career.
Beyond his playing career, Lee has devoted himself to growing the game at every level. This season, he is coaching Pre- and Post-High School teams as well as 10U, while also serving as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Dayton IceHounds Organization. In addition, Lee referees across youth and collegiate hockey, giving him a unique perspective on how the game is played, coached, and officiated.
Lee’s mission with Tier One is simple: to teach the game the right way. By combining his professional playing background, coaching expertise, and hands-on involvement in youth hockey, he provides athletes with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive both on and off the ice.
Coach Brian Marks
Brian Marks brings a wealth of experience from his playing career, which spanned juniors, college, and professional hockey. He got his start in the game with the Watertown Hockey Association before moving to the 1000 Islands Hockey Association, where his team won the 1999 New York State Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Tier II National Championship. He went on to play AAA with the Bonnie Castle Kings out of Alexandria Bay, NY, and later suited up for the Thousand Islands Vikings, helping them capture a Section Championship and earn a trip to the New York State Tournament. From there, Brian moved on to junior hockey, collegiate play at UMass-Boston, and then a successful professional career in the Federal Hockey League.
As a pro, Brian became a cornerstone defenseman for the Dayton Demonz, serving as team captain during their championship run. Over his career, he was named a two-time Defenseman of the Year and in 2013–14 led the league in power play goals, cementing his place as one of the league’s top blueliners.
Beyond his playing career, Brian has dedicated himself to developing the next generation of players. He has coached across multiple levels and continues to grow the game through Tier One Hockey Development, where he works with athletes of all ages on skill development, hockey IQ, and a professional approach to training. By combining his professional playing background, leadership experience, and passion for teaching, Brian helps players build the tools, mindset, and confidence to succeed both on and off the ice.
